Welcome to the Edinburgh Hub for
Trials Methodology Research
Introduction
Our vision is to deliver more effective translation of novel
scientific ideas and discoveries (both drug and non-drug) into
innovative clinical practice. The work of the Edinburgh Hub is not
limited to designated clinical areas, but specific strengths
include clinical neurosciences (in particular stroke, head injury
and brain imaging), rheumatology, experimental medicine, psychiatry
and primary care. The Edinburgh Hub provides guidance to trialists
on the design of clinical trials, through the Edinburgh Clinical
Trials Unit.
Aims
- To exploit information arising from preclinical
models, imaging, genetic and secondary analysis of existing data to
improve the design of large scale clinical trials and improve
patient outcomes.
- To provide a resource centre that can be
accessed by trialists.
- To educate and nurture the next generation of
trialists by promoting cross disciplinary exchange and by taking
methodological innovations from one clinical discipline to
another
